The Conservation Commission is currently selling hay. Here is the price list (prices exclude Mass state sales tax which is also applicable):
| Description | Price per bale |
|---|---|
| 1-99 Bales | $4.25 |
| 100-250 Bales | $3.50 |
| 251+ Bales | $3.25 |
| Out of the field | $3.00 |
| Mulch hay | $3.00 |
| Stored in barn | $4.00 |
Stored bales (purchased for pickup later) will be held until no later than June 1, 2009. Except for the "Mulch hay" item, all these prices are for feed-quality hay. Mulch hay is of lower quality than feed hay, but is suitable for preventing siltation into wetlands or other non-consumption uses. All proceeds go to the Longley Acres Conservation Area Maintenance Fund. If you would like to purchase hay, please contact the Commission Office at (978) 425-2600 x245 or longleyacres@hotmail.com. Please note that Shirley is located in North Central Massachusetts and we do not ship the hay. It must be picked up at 27 Whitney Road.
Volunteers are also needed to help with haying on Longley Acres. If you are interested in getting on our list of helpers, please contact the Commission Office.
